This paper outlines the steps that need to be taken to prepare for the Copenhagen climate summit and a new climate treaty. The author argues that a holistic approach as well as faster transmission of new scientific knowledge to policymakers, is urgently needed. She emphasizes the need to coordinate international, national and local policies, and to address the concerns of vulnerable communities in developing countries.
