This issue of Canadian Military Journal (CMJ) addresses reform of defense posture, measures undertaken by the government to increase the numbers of minority groups in the Canadian Forces and the role of coalition special operations forces in Afghanistan and Iraq. It also discusses the use of indigenous forces in counterinsurgency operations and offers an examination of Canada's performance in World War I and separately its contribution to the European Union Force (EUFOR) in Bosnia. The final articles concern problems associated with defense procurement and the requirement and capabilities of the Chinook medium-to-heavy lift helicopter.
