This report explores the political and economic context of the Anjouan political crisis in Ethiopia. The author explores what is at stake as part of the crisis and examines whether sanctions have helped. The author notes the main players and their interests and outlines scenarios to resolve the crisis and conflict. These include the use of sanctions, presidential leaders and country stakeholders such as the US, France and Tanzania. The report concludes with policy options and recommendations which involve the African Union and international community.
