This PRISM issue maps out the critical relationships that exist between women, peace, and security. The text's articles particularly zero in on 1) how including women in societal decision making helps prevent violence, creates peace, and sustains post-conflict security; 2) how the US Department of Defense might integrate gender perspectives more thoroughly into its activities; 3) the impact which advances in robotics could have on the ability of women to take part in combat operations; 4) the role of female operatives within the Boko Haram terrorist organization; and 5) how to address gender inequality in post-conflict societies. The text also includes field-based articles on, among other things, using female peacekeepers more effectively to prevent the recruitment of child soldiers, and the role that women are presently playing in Mongolia's drive towards democratization.
