This text examines the regional security implications of the Rohingya crisis, particularly given the resurgence of pro-Rohingya jihadists in and around Myanmar. It appears that recent pro-Rohingya attacks have been largely fueled by reports of human rights abuses being committed against the group’s women by the Tatmadaw (Myanmar National Army). In order to prevent the further recruitment and radicalization of Rohingya refugees, the commentary’s authors urge countries of interest to secure their borders, address the Rohingya’s uncertain citizenship status, and form strategic partnerships with the community.
