The overall focus of this CTTA issue is on the proliferation of radical ideology by members of IS and Al Qaeda. Its articles specifically look at 1) JAD leader Aman Abdurrahman’s role as a proponent of radical, pro-IS ideology in Indonesia; 2) IS’ calculated strategy of sowing inter-religious discord in European countries; 3) the comprehensive counter-radicalization and community engagement strategies that are needed to combat IS’ and Al Qaeda’s recruitment of disaffected Xinjiang Uyghurs; and 4) the abuse of modern, cross-border payment methods to finance terrorist activities.
