The seventeen chapters in this text provide a comprehensive review of counterterrorism developments around the world in 2017. Seven chapters focus on the policy and operational responses of individual states, including Australia, Philippines, Afghanistan, Turkey, Russia, the US and UK, while eight other chapters provide more expansive regional synopses. The publication also includes articles on 1) lessons learned for countering violent extremism from the fight against the so-called Islamic State in Iraq; and 2) counterterrorist operations in cyberspace and the international law with which they must comply.
