This brief explores Belarus’s ongoing struggles with its deteriorating economy and socio-political health. While mulling over the country’s problems, the text’s authors provide a comprehensive breakdown of President Lukashenko’s regime and argue that its reliance on coercion and repression now faces severe pressure from an increasingly disgruntled public. Within this context, the brief additionally assesses the impact of Belarus’s domestic challenges on the state’s interactions with both Moscow and the West.
