This paper examines the potential barriers to interreligious dialogue that exist within the increasingly multi-faith West and the traditionally multi-faith societies of East Asia. More specifically, the text’s author 1) identifies four types of interreligious dialogue and the positive roles they can play in spreading religious literacy; 2) analyzes why people are unwilling to engage in interreligious dialogue, to include their fear of proselytization; and 3) calls for increased religious literacy at all levels, which requires active involvement with youth groups and the promotion of improved dialogue skills.
