This compendium explores Australia-French relations by looking at both countries’ views on their shared history, international security, defense cooperation and the South Pacific. According to the authors, the picture that emerges from this review is one of two nations that are 1) determined to make the world safer and more just; and 2) committed to the global rule of law, the liberal order and respect for human rights at a time when the international order appears under threat. However, the report also contends that Australia and France require a strategic plan—and a practical commitment to getting things done—if they are to maximize the benefits of their bilateral ties.
