This paper first analyzes Bangladesh’s acquisition of two Chinese submarines and wonders how it will impact the country’s role as a modernizing naval power in the Bay of Bengal, particularly when it comes to regional maritime security. The text’s author then looks at India’s apprehensions about a long-term Chinese training presence in Bangladesh, which he believes is not a threat.
