This commentary looks at the EU budget system and the clamor to reform its revenue and spending practices. Among other factors, the drive for change is attributable to the eroding cohesion among EU member states and the Brexit imbroglio. In response, the European Commission’s next Multiannual Financial Framework (MFF) should reflect greater budget flexibility and spending efficiency.
