This paper examines the US‘s fielding of its Syrian civil defense organization (otherwise known as the White Helmets) and argues that it represents an attempt to “weaponize” human rights efforts in order to legitimize Washington’s regime change operations abroad. According to the author, the White Helmets’ careful documentation of alleged war crimes committed by the Syrian Army and the increased “Saudization” of US Mideast policy may be part of a larger effort to pave the way for a full-scale military invasion of Syria.
