This paper analyzes the potential regional impact of dislodging the so-called Islamic State (IS) from Mosul. The author argues that while the fall of the city would serve as a significant setback for IS (potentially triggering defections and undermining pro-IS propaganda), it will not spell the end of an organization that has consistently recovered from apparent defeat.
