This publication examines the security implications of the coronavirus pandemic for the US. The text’s author contends that while some in the US talk of bringing about radical change regarding the country’s social and economic system in the wake of the crisis, this is unlikely to happen. He suggests that what is more likely to change is the US approach to national security policy, particularly regarding Russia and China. In light of this, he outlines five key initiatives that could make this happen, some of which reflect efforts similar to those which were successful for the US during the Cold War.
