This paper explores the Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Areas (DCFTAs) agreements the EU envisages setting up with Morocco and Tunisia. Among other things, the text’s author 1) reviews the EU's trade relationships with the two countries and assesses the key principles and mechanisms of the proposed DCFTAs; 2) compares the potential depth and comprehensiveness of the pending Tunisian and Moroccan deals with the ones Brussels recently concluded with Ukraine, Moldova and Georgia; and 3) scrutinizes the possible impact of the General Court’s 10 December 2015 judgment in Frente Polisario vs. Council, which focused on the EU-Morocco DCFTA negotiations.
