This text examines the rejuvenated efforts to strengthen the EU’s Common Security and Defence Policy (CSDP). According to its authors, the plans to foster CSDP cooperation are unfortunately being hindered by competing visions of the future among member states. That’s not helpful, particularly given the changing security environment, the imminent Brexit, and the prospect of a hardened US position on transatlantic burden-sharing.
