This paper looks back at the period between 1979 and the early 1990s in order to understand how the US went from being a tottering global power to becoming the world's only superpower. More specifically, the text ‘s author explores the roots of America's resurgence; how the Reagan administration capitalized on them to propel America's revitalization forward; and how the Bush administration of the early 1990s consolidated America's unipolar moment. Finally, the author discusses what lessons America can learn from the above historical period as the country sees its relative economic dominance wane in the early 21st century.
