In this paper, John Bruton, the former Prime Minister of Ireland, speculates on the potential impact of Brexit on his country. He specifically analyzes 1) the UK’s expected positions in the upcoming negotiations and the likely responses from the EU; 2) what the major sticking points will be in the talks; and 3) the problems Ireland will have to face in the wake of Brexit, which include minimizing its damage and actively boosting the country’s competitiveness.
