As the title suggests, this paper argues that a YES vote in the 2 October 2016 plebiscite on the Colombian government-FARC peace deal represents the best way forward in the country. The text’s author, however, does 1) explain why former Colombian president Álvaro Uribe and some of the demobilized paramilitary groups formed to fight the FARC are unhappy with the terms of the deal; 2) examines the specific terms of the agreement; and 3) briefly looks at the prospects for peace in Colombia over the longer term, given that the country’s drug trade is most likely to persist.
