This CTTA issue features three articles on the security challenge posed by transnational jihadist networks in Asia and the West. The articles specifically focus on 1) the reasons for the growth of jihadist groups across Europe and the lessons learned from the March 2016 terrorist attack in Brussels, Belgium; 2) a complementary piece on how European nations should reassess their efforts against the Islamic State, again in the wake of the Brussels and Paris attacks; and 3) the strategic and tactical motives for deploying female suicide bombers by terrorist groups.
