This paper reviews and assesses the Australian Defence Force’s (ADF) C4ISR capabilities, particularly in relation to the network-centric warfare (NCW) architecture it’s creating. More specifically, the paper's authors 1) describe the changes in the ADF’s C4ISR system since 2010; 2) review the roles of C4ISR and the closely related concept of NCW in modern warfare, especially when it comes to the ADF’s ability to fight alone or within Western coalitions; and 3) assess the progress of projects that could contribute to the ADF’s future C4ISR-NWC capabilities.
