This publication features three papers written by Chinese experts on the strategic role the Korean Peninsula plays in their country’s overall foreign strategy, and in its specific relations with North and South Korea. Some of the particular topics covered include 1) how China views the possibility of Korean unification; 2) the impact of the US’ rebalance towards Asia is having on Beijing’s security calculus; and 3) China’s strategic intentions in the future, which will almost certainly continue to emphasize maintaining local and regional stability.
