This commentary focuses on the personality-based nature of Malaysia-US relations. While the new Trump administration’s Southeast Asia policy remains uncertain, Prime Minister Najib Razak’s personal ties to Trump and his commitment to a proactive bilateral relationship may indeed lead to stronger US-Malaysia ties.
