This paper briefly traces the evolution of Indonesia-Singapore relations since the 1960s and identifies key lessons learned to help guide the next five decades of engagement between the two nations. Among other issues, the author addresses the impact on Indonesia-Singapore bilateral ties of 1) transboundary haze pollution originating from Indonesia; 2) issues related to the status of Indonesian assets in Singapore; and 3) the dispute between the two states over airspace above the Riau and Natuna Islands.
