This issue of the CAD first focuses on 1) how unofficial ‘under-the-table out-of-pocket payments’ contribute to unequal access to healthcare services in Armenia, Azerbaijan and Georgia, and 2) why the extent of such payments varies between these three countries. It then addresses the availability of medical workers in the Caucuses, highlighting how the concentration of medical personnel in urban areas also contributes to unequal access to healthcare in the region.
