This publication contends that Israel is pursuing new ways to cement its control of East Jerusalem. However, the text’s authors contend that Israel’s plans – which include the possible removal of certain Palestinian areas from the municipality’s jurisdiction, cataloguing all occupied East Jerusalem lands in the Israel Lands Registry and inducing Palestinian schools in East Jerusalem to adopt Israeli curricula – would exacerbate the conflict in and over Jerusalem. In response, the publication contends that Palestinians, Israelis and allies of both leaderships should press the Israeli government not to carry out these plans.
