Speaker Series: Strategic Stability and the Future of International Politics

The Speaker Series on US Foreign Policy in the 21st Century: Challenges and Opportunity kicked off on 11. February 2019 with a talk by Dr. Brad Roberts, Director of the Center for Global Security Research at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory in California and former Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Nuclear and Missile Defense Policy in the Obama Administration. His remarks focused on the future of strategic stability. According to Roberts, Russia and China are striving to impose their will on the Western community of states not with force but by means of appropriate threats. Russia’s newly acquired supremacy in intermediate-range nuclear systems in Europe could be problematic. The USA and its Allies have not yet found a convincing response to this challenge.
