Dr. Alexander K. Bollfrass ist Senior Researcher am Center for Security Studies (CSS) der ETH Zürich. Zuvor war er Stanton Postdoctoral Fellow für nukleare Sicherheit am Belfer Center der Harvard Kennedy School und Mitarbeiter des Davis Center for Russian and Eurasian Studies.

Alex war Forscher für Atomwaffenpolitik bei der Arms Control Association und dem Stimson Center in Washington, bevor er an der Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs der Princeton University in Sicherheitsstudien promovierte.

Ein Teil seines Forschungsprogramms vergleicht, wie gut die Nachrichtendienste die Nuklearprogramme anderer Länder einschätzen Ein weiterer Teil seiner Forschung widmet sich den versteckten Hindernissen bei der Verbreitung von Nukleartechnologien. Parallel dazu erforscht Alex, wie sich das Klima auf Bürgerkriege auswirkt und welche ethischen Probleme es mit sich bringt, dem Sicherheitsstaat zu dienen.
