This brief questions the sources and accuracy of migration data in the EU. More specifically, the text’s authors 1) evaluate the accepted narrative of the 2015-2016 European migration crisis, and 2) identify where data gaps led to distortions, miscalculations and – ultimately – the false magnification of the migration problem.
