This paper provides evidence to show that Intellectual Property Rights (IPRs) can accelerate the spread and transfer of new climate-friendly technologies by motivating the private sector to invest in technological innovation. As a result, the authors argue that the benefits of bringing in these rights outweigh the costs associated to them.
