This paper talks about South Africa's nuclear energy capabilities and the future of its nuclear policies. It includes an examination of the country's growing energy demands, its nuclear agencies and structures, its nuclear diplomacy with other countries, and the role of public opinion. It concludes that South Africa’s progress towards its largest nuclear procurement program is taking place in the context of changes within the ANC party, an increase in global demand for uranium, and growing energy needs within South Africa itself.
