This paper talks about regional economic integration in Africa and the impact that emerging economies like the BRICS are having on this integration in comparison to its traditional supporters such as the US and the EU. It also looks at the possibilities for cooperation between these emerging and traditional partners. The author ends the piece by arguing that the extent to which emerging partners will help or hamper regional integration in Africa depends on how African countries manage them.
