This paper examines the development of green economies in the BRICS countries, highlighting steps the individual BRICS members have taken to support the development of a green economy and where they stand collectively. The authors argue that if the BRICS are to fully embrace the development of a green economy, they will need to link this objective with their broader economic development agendas.
