This paper describes and analyzes trends in governance values and practices in Africa. It is divided into four sections, 1) a conceptual framework and a brief synopsis of governance trends in Africa, 2) an analysis of values and their impact on governance in Africa 3), a review of norms and frameworks aimed at improving governance values and practices on the continent, and 4) suggestions on how the African Union and its members can strengthen governance values in Africa.
