This paper examines the effect cooperation between Mozambique's government and foreign companies on the country's infrastructure could have on the country. To do so, the authors analyze the nature of this cooperation, the present state of transport infrastructure in central and northern Mozambique, and plans for its expansion. They argue that if national and regional political authorities and the foreign companies improve their interaction with each other, public–private partnerships for improving transport infrastructure could greatly improve connectivity within Mozambique. However, they also say even if this happens it is uncertain whether local economies will benefit.
