This paper analyzes the African Governance Architecture (AGA) and the challenges it faces. More specifically, the authors describe the process that led to the creation of the AGA by the African Union and then focus on two of the main challenges facing the AGA, namely, the weak linkages between the AGA and the African Peace and Security Architecture, and the lack of a clear role for the African Peer Review Mechanism within the AGA. They also offer policy recommendations on how the AGA can deal with these problems.
