This paper discusses the prospects for sustainable development and an environmentally friendly economy in Russia. To do this, the author examines Russia's use of natural resources, its fight against pollution and environmental damage, its waste management, and its energy sector. She suggests that despite a growing realization of the importance of a green economy in the country, Russia still has a long way to go until its energy-oriented economy is transformed into a green economy.
