This brief discusses the causes and magnitude of India’s rising energy demands and the country's reliance on imports to satisfy them. The author comments on the prospects of India's efforts to ensure energy availability through regional cooperation in energy matters, its attempts to enhance gas supplies through international projects, oil and energy diplomacy, and its investment in renewable energies. She concludes by looking at how the EU could engage in energy cooperation with India.
