In light of declining defense spending across Europe, the EU is devising measures to ensure that defense budgets are spent more efficiently and effectively. This commentary looks at one such measure - the greater standardization of defense equipment in the European Union. The author explores the case for standardization, the challenges to standardization, and how a plan for standardization could be put into practice.
