This brief argues that if Myanmar is on the path towards democratic transition, the EU can claim to have played a major role in supporting and channeling the country's long transition from military rule to the rule of law and accountable government. The author then highlights how the EU achieved this through a comprehensive approach which included diplomatic support, advice, and funding.
