In light of the election of a new unity government in Afghanistan in 2014, this commentary discusses the country's political prospects. The author contends that the new government represents an opportunity for the EU and its member states to tailor their respective foreign policy approaches and commitments to Afghanistan, particularly when it comes to influencing Afghanistan's neighboring countries.
