This text argues that the potential threats posed by the so-called Islamic State (IS), a nuclear-capable Iran, and rampant instability in Yemen, Iraq and Libya, have reinvigorated the idea that military cooperation among Arab countries is no longer an option but a necessity. After making her initial case, the text's author then examines how an Arab army, or at least greater military cooperation, might finally become a reality in the near future.
