This paper discusses the economic sanctions imposed on Russia by the EU following the 2014 crisis in Ukraine. In particular, the author looks at whether: 1) the sanctions are having an impact on Russia; 2) there were any viable alternatives which the EU could have employed; and 3) the sanctions have had any influence on the crisis itself.
