This report examines some of the long term trends in the Middle East (including population growth, urbanization and climate change) which are unlikely to change before 2025. The report also identifies six areas where policymakers will influence the course of events by their choices and hypothesizes three scenarios for the year 2025: 1) The ‘Arab Simmer’, where Arab states reform but not sufficiently; 2) the ‘Arab Implosion’, where Arab states fail to address the burning issues and 3) the ‘Arab Leap’, where they manage to reform in a sustainable manner.
