This brief assesses the situation in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) in early 2015, where President Joseph Kabila is seeking to control the army, stifle opposition and civil society, and break free of donor pressure. The author also looks at the lessons that can be drawn for the Great Lake region from the situation in the DRC.
