This brief discusses the problems faced by Yemen's armed forces and how this has exacerbated the security problems which the country faces at the beginning of 2015. The author also discusses the complex nature of the internal conflict plaguing the country and argues that the causes of Yemen’s woes go beyond over-simplistic explanations based on sectarian antagonisms.
