This paper examines the role of South Africa in projecting Africa's voice and interests in global economic forums. It also looks at South Africa's effectiveness as the continent's sole member of BRICS and the G20. The author concludes that South Africa still has to build strategic partnerships with other dominant states on the continent and improve domestic challenges such as high rates of unemployment and low economic growth to increase its political clout globally.
