This paper discusses the EU’S Common Security and Defence Policy (CSDP) operations and missions, and explores how they fit into the broader crisis management environment and multilateral efforts towards international peace. The author argues that while the CSDP has a number of problems, it has positively contributed to crisis management and that it has made the EU a key actor in the area. He underlines that the CSDP only forms one part of the EU's approach to crisis management.
