This brief describes how China’s and India’s relations with African nations are slowly expanding beyond the exchange of raw materials for manufactured goods, particularly in the security sphere. Regardless of this particular trend, however, upholding relations with heavyweight OECD partners such as the EU remains fundamental to Africa’s economic diversification and democratic consolidation.
